Cookie-Management Rules

1. Scope of the Cookie-management Rules

The rules shall apply to the following websites operated jointly by National University of Public Service and Apertus Not for Profit Ltd (hereinafter individually referred to as Operator of Website(s) or collectively as Operators of Website(s)):

2. What are cookies?

When the visitor visits one of the websites governed by the rules, a small file, titled “cookie” (hereinafter: Cookie) is copied to their device, which may serve several purposes. 

Some of the cookies in use (“process cookies”) are indispensable to the proper function of the website while other types of cookies collect information (statistical data) for the purposes of facilitating the use of the website. Some cookies are temporary and are deleted upon closing of the website whereas there are also permanent cookies which remain longer on the device.  

3. The purpose of cookies

  • by registering the user preferences and habits of visitors, facilitation of navigation on, and, as a consequence, use of the website
  • improving user experience by collecting information on how visitors use the website and which subpages are visited or used the most frequently.
  • collection of statistical data, whose evaluation helps to understand how visitors use the additional services, which in turn can be further improved
  • further improvement and subsequent fine-tuning of the website in accordance with the needs of visitors

4. Types of Cookies

4.1. “Work session cookies”

“Work session cookies” support browsing on the website and the use of its functions. Among others, they enable the recording of operations in respect of a given website, function or service. Without “work session cookies” the smooth operation of the website cannot be guaranteed. They remain in effect throughout a given visit to the site, and are automatically deleted at the end of the session or upon closing the browser.

On the website, the adequacy of work sessions is ensured on the basis of the provisions of paragraph 3 of Article 13/A of Act CVIII of 2001 on matters concerning electronic trade services and informational society related services. 

 

4.2. "Use supporting cookies"

These cookies enable our website to remember the type of function selected by you (in relevant cases; for example, the number of search results displayed at a time). This is done so that you will not need to reset them during your next visit. Our website can function, albeit less smoothly, without the data stored by cookies containing user preferences.   

4.3. "Performance improving cookies"

With the help of “performance improving cookies” we collect information on how visitors use our website (for example, which pages were visited by the user, the number of pages they visited, what parts of a given page they clicked on, the length of individual sessions, what kinds of error messages they received). This enables us to improve our website (available services, functions…) in accordance with the requirements of visitors, and to offer them a high-standard and user-friendly experience.  

In order to measure performance, we also use cookies of third parties during each visit to our website. Cookies enable us to keep track of the number of visitors and the routes they take to access the website. In order that we may provide a high-standard user experience, we store, use and evaluate data on visitor behaviour anonymously.

It is important to note that, even when cookies are accepted, the Operator of the website remembers none of the user names or passwords.

The visitor can securely use the website Operator’s electronic services even when they have accepted cookies.

6. Checking “cookie settings”, disabling cookies

Modern browsers allow the modification of “cookie settings”. Some browsers accept cookies by default, but their settings can be changed enabling the user to subsequently avoid automatic acceptance. After changing the settings in this way, the browser will offer the option of “cookie settings” on every occasion.

We would like to draw our visitors’ attention to the fact that, since cookies are meant to support and facilitate the processes and usability of the website, when they are disabled, visitors may be unable to fully use the website’s functions. In these instances, the webpage may function differently than intended in the browser.
